REVIEW~ KYLAND by Mia Sheridan

Kyland

Dirt poor. Hillbilly. Backwoods hick. Mountain folk.

Tenleigh Falyn struggles each day to survive in a small, poverty-stricken, coal mining town where she lives with her sister and mentally ill mother. Her dream of winning the college scholarship given to one student by the local coal company and escaping the harshness of her life, keeps her going.

Kyland Barrett lives in the hills, too, and has worked tirelessly—through near starvation, through deep loneliness, against all odds—to win the Tyton Coal Scholarship and leave the town that is full of so much pain.

They're both determined not to form any attachments, but one moment changes everything. What happens when only one person gets to win? When only one person gets to leave? And what happens to the one left behind?

Kyland is a story of desperation and hope, loss and sacrifice, pain and forgiveness, but ultimately, a story of deep and unending love.

THIS IS A STAND-ALONE SIGN OF LOVE NOVEL, INSPIRED BY TAURUS. New Adult Contemporary Romance: Due to strong language and sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18

I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Sometimes my friends would ask ”How are you not tired with reading the same love story?” or “How many different ways can you make someone fall in love and read about it?”. I think from now on every time I have to answer that question, I am simply going to say 'Mia Sheridan'. Every story I've read from Mia has be absolutely wonderful and Kyland is no exception.

Mia Sheridan always makes you think about the life you are living.  I love this about her work, I love that I don't always get a boy meets girl but a message behind the romance she writes.

Can I just say from the first line of Kyland I couldn't help but feel it in my heart.  Mia has a great way of pulling you into her stories and the stories being so good that you can't put your devices down until you have read the last page.

“The first time I really noticed Kyland Barrett, he was swiping someone's discarded breakfast off a cafeteria table”

Kyland was told from both Tenleigh's and Kyland's Point of View, which I really enjoyed. I thought the story flowed well an kept me interested.

About the Story:
In a poor mining community both Kyland and Tenleigh are struggling to make ends meet. Both live separate lives but admired each other from afar. Circumstances both them together and each trying to deny the attraction between them.  The conditions they were living in made my heart dropped. Despite the lack of material things they enjoyed the simple things that many take for granted. They wanted to leave their hometown and are both competing for the one way out.

I would definitely  recommend this book to anyone. The story is  a different kind of love story but gives you everything you love about a romance. There is first love, heartbreaks and the overall struggle both characters go through to get to a normal like.
Loved it!!!

“I loved her and she left. Maybe I wasn’t enough. Maybe I’ll never be enough.” I’ve been thinking these words since before we even got together.
Everything is new. The old no longer has a place here. Physical items are easy to replace. I'm constantly battling the ones that aren't.
Every thought and memory I have is stained.
By you.
You weren't even there for half of them.
How is she still present even though she left?
I can do this. I’m going to survive losing her.
*** This is the second book of the His Series, and it DOES end with a cliffhanger. The final book of the His Series, Finding Me, will release June 1, 2015***

“Dude, you’ve got to get up.” Jameson sighs as I pull the pillow back over my head. I don’t even know what day it is anymore. I don’t care.
What adds salt to my wounds is the fact that the world keeps turning. People continue waking up and going about their day. The sun rises and sets. I hear kids laugh and play, neighbors greet one another, and birds sing, and all the while I wonder how? How does the entire world appear to be surviving this nightmare of losing her?
****
Hank comes to visit in June. I still haven’t heard from Ace, and yet I’m still staying at my mom’s. I can’t leave. I can’t go back to that house. I’d moved rooms shortly after she left, and now reside in the guest room on the main floor. It’s better this way. There aren’t any pictures of her in here or random memories, like the one of her sitting on my bean bag chair when I was sick last summer. I also don’t have to face the window that looks out onto hers.
Hank knows that I know mom sent for him, hoping that he’d be able to “help” me. She of all people should know that having Hank around isn’t going to help me. He’s fucking married to the love of his life; he doesn’t have a fucking clue about the shit that I’m going through.
Of all things, Hank wants to go camping. I’m sure he thinks that getting away will help. He doesn’t understand that moving rooms has helped me realize I could go to Antarctica, and things wouldn’t change; the distance isn’t going to make the pain any less.
When we get camp set up, Hank opens a cooler and passes me a beer with a giant, shit-eating grin, like we’ve just overcome a huge hurdle. Deciding that I shouldn’t rain on his little douchebag tea party quite yet, I accept the beer with merely a grimace before taking a long swig. Before long, that single swig becomes a chug, and then a guzzle as I consume more alcohol than what three people probably should.
I sit by the fire and close my eyes. My mind automatically reaches back into that locked and forbidden drawer to pull out the image of Ace, striving to recall the sound of her laugh, the feel of her touch. It brings me back to our camping trip last September, when Jameson announced that was what he wanted to do for his birthday.

4.5 Beautiful Stars
Leigh Ann Lunsford has a great way of telling her stories and Pieces of Paisley was no different. Leigh Ann warned me that this was nothing like her previous series and she was right but I loved every minute of it. Pieces of Paisley was different, funny, heartwarming and a really good love story.
I love to read about young love and the ride that this story took me on was great.

Paisley was a fun, witty, spoke her mind type of teenager. I love that even though she was opinionated she was also afraid to express her feelings. Paisley meets Jake at a party on night and the rest is history.

Jake was instantly intrigued by Paisley. Even knowing her age he just couldn't stay away. I have to admit in the beginning I was not a Jake fan. He seemed very controlling and possessive and I was not feeling him at all. The more I read the more he grew on me and the circumstances that he went through made him a better person and changed my mind. In the end, I was a Jake fan.

The reason I loved the story is because Leigh Ann took me on a ride. My emotions was all over the place and at time I didn't know who to like or which character I should hate lol. It was like watching a really good movie play out. I got to see the years pass by and the many fail attempts of love between the characters.

Overall, a very cute love story that I can see being made into a move. Well done Leigh Ann, another great book.

Leigh Ann Lunsford is stay at home mom turned author. She writes Romance/New Adult and loves her happily ever after in all books and movies. She lives with her husband, son, and four dogs in Fleming Island, Florida. When she isn't writing or reading you can find her stuck in front of really bad reality shows or watching Sons of Anarchy. Leigh Ann has a filthy mouth and a huge amount of sarcasm that knows no end. She hopes to give the voices in her head an outlet with many more novels to come.

SECRETS OF WHITESTONE MANOR
Author: Brittany Jo James
Series: The Winters Family Series, Book #1
Genre: Young Adult Romance | Paranormal Romance
~ SYNOPSIS ~
Some secrets are too dark to ever be brought into the light.

At least mine are.

My name is Orson Winters, and you already know too much for me to let you walk away.

A decade has passed since my parents were killed, forcing my younger siblings and me to move in with our estranged uncle. Whitestone Manor in all its grandeur was overwhelming enough. Then, we learned the family secret.

There’s darkness in the world no one, besides a handful of fighting families, even knows exists. The Winters family is the most acclaimed of them all. However, power isn’t always pleasurable, especially considering that it’s my responsibility to keep my reckless brothers and sister from jeopardizing us all.

When an old enemy emerges from the shadows, Uncle Sebastian calls in another fighting family to assist. I didn’t need their help. I could independently protect my siblings and the rest of the world from danger. That was, until I met Lilith Shaw. Now I’m not even sure that I can protect myself.

I can’t focus on that, though.

I’m the last one standing between you and those who wait in the darkness.

If you can keep a secret, I’ll tell you my story.
