REVIEW~ Hooked by Christine Manzari

If you ask the confident and snarky skater girl, and she’s in the mood to share, she’ll tell you her name is Cat. She might even tell you that she’s hooked on graffiti, 80s movies, and having fun—the riskier the better. Cat will share a good time with you, but she won’t ever trust you enough to share her heart. It’s protected by secrets and she’d like to keep it that way.

Cat knows one thing for certain: Love isn’t really her thing.

If you ask the confident and rich pretty boy, he might tell you his name is Huck. He might even tell you he loves a challenge and is used to getting his way. He won’t tell you that his life is a mess because he risked his heart by trusting the wrong girl. Huck is ready for a change, he just wasn’t ready to get hooked on someone like Cat.

Huck knows one thing for certain: Love hasn’t done him any favors, but Cat just might be worth the risk.

Cat and Huck think a one-night stand seems harmless, but when all the little secrets they didn’t share turn out to be toxic truths, they realize how easily a one-night stand (or a few) could ruin everything.

The thing is, you can be ruined in more than one way. Once you’re HOOKED, what wouldn’t you risk for the chance at more?

From the first page Hooked by Christine Manzari was light and fun. Once I started reading it there was no way I was putting it down until I was finished. I must admit I wanted more at the end of the book but for me once I enjoy a story I never want the character's story to end. I hope Christine sees this and thinks about giving us a little more Cat and Huck or even a story about Cat's best friend Jay.

Characters:
Cat was a different type of female lead. She didn't have the typical long blonde hair and blue eyes I read about often. She was a woman with tattoo's, who skates and isn't afraid of being herself. Cat or Cate is fun, outspoken and basically did whatever she wanted. Cat doesn't let anyone get close to her but her best friend Jay. One night Cat walks over to Huck to inquiry about his stalking abilities and the rest is history.

Huck always found something interesting about Cat and he couldn't stop staring. I enjoyed Huck's character. He was also funny and when he found something he wanted he went after it hard.

Both of their worlds collide and both Cat and Huck must find a way to cope with what faith has thrown them. Huck isn't ready to give up on Cat and Cat is a stubborn, feisty girl.

Overall, I enjoyed Hooked. The characters worked well together, it was an easy read as I didn't feel like the story dragged. All the characters had me laughing and some point or another with their antics. Christine did a great job and it showed through her writing.

I will definitely recommend Hooked to anyone looking or a light and romantic read.

The first thing Christine does when she's getting ready to read a book is to crack the spine in at least five places. She wholeheartedly believes there is no place as comfy as the pages of a well-worn book. She's addicted to buying books, reading books, and writing books. Books, books, books. She also has a weakness for adventure, inappropriate humor, and coke (the caffeine-laden bubbly kind). Christine is from Forest Hill, Maryland where she lives with her husband, three kids, and her library of ugly spine books.

Brooke
I’ve come from a privileged life and an even more privileged upbringing. My parents taught me right from wrong and everything in between… except I wanted the gray area. I wanted to live life on the edge with the possibility of falling over. I didn’t care about the consequences because I had no heart…
I left that on the floor of my parents’ bedroom door, shattered.
And never went back to pick up the pieces.

Devon
Family first.
I learned the meaning of the word hate.
I learned that life is a battlefield and I stood frontline.
I learned that praying doesn’t work and God doesn’t listen.
And I learned how to be a man…
All at the receiving end of my father’s fists, my mother’s tears, and my sisters screams.
You can’t run away from your past…
It will always find you, especially when you’re asleep.

Warning: Book contains adult situations.
Sex/language. Mature readers only.

I was there, but I wasn’t.
I danced around in a sea of emptiness and longing, it moved around me easily, carelessly, harshly.
It was all and it was nothing.
It made me full and it made me empty.
It pleased me and it dismayed me.
I didn’t care. I was there to do a job. To be a VIP. I played my part beautifully, just as I always did. Letting myself get taken away on empty promises of nothing, but somehow seemed like everything

Tempting Bad is one of those books that as soon as you're finish, you want to go back to page 1 and experience it all over again.

I enjoyed every single twisted minute of Tempting Bad. M. Robinson writes beautifully even though her stories aren't your typical roses and hearts story.

This story was well written, the characters and how their lives came together was well thought out and planned.
VIP is a spin off from M. Robinson's VIP series. I must admit I didn't read the last book in the series and I should have. I learned some important details that if I read the last book in the VIP series I would not have been so surprise.
The story of Brooke and Devon was both heartbreaking and a great one. I enjoyed seeing how these individuals were brought together and how their lives changed.

Characters:

Even though Brooke had everything she wanted in life, one night changed everything for her. We see a carefree teen become lost in a world she thought she knew. Brooke was definitely broken and trying to find her place. I loved how determine, strong and loving she was. Brooke wasn't the easiest person to love but boy when she did it was like an earthquake.

I enjoyed Devon's characters. I loved how he cared for his family and took on a father role. You can't help but fall in love with him despite all his demons.

Overall, great story line, the story was easy to read, hot, funny and has you on your toes throughout.

Definitely a must read for 2015.
M. Robinson loves to read. She favors anything that has angst, romance, triangles, cheating, love, and of course sex!

  Excerpt
“I love you Ian,” Allison told him, as she snuggled up in his arms as they continued to stare at the stars that lit up the night sky.
Looking over to Allison, Ian felt his nerves come to surface. The whole reason for bringing her to the beach for their date, rather than a restaurant, was to give her the gift he’d bought her a week ago.
“I have something for you,” Ian said, his voice unsteady as he reached into his pocket. He felt a chill from the breeze around him as he lifted the box in his hand.
He watched her as her eyes began to widen, her hand began to pull back from where it was linked with his, and Ian could have sworn he heard her breath beginning to pick up as if she was going into panic.
“It’s not what you think it is,” Ian assured her, answering her unspoken thoughts. “You think I’m asking you to marry me, but you’re wrong. I love you, but we’ve talked about this. We’re nowhere near ready for marriage yet.” Allison let out a breath in relief as her body relaxed. “I love you,” Ian started telling her, as he sat himself up on his knees. “God knows I love you. Every day that I’ve known you has been wonderful. I can’t see ever not having you in my life. I want to be with you forever. I want to love, cherish, and protect you. Now, I know this all sounds like a proposal, but it’s not. It’s a promise. I want to love you for the rest of my life, and I know you want that, too,” Ian continued, opening the box. It held a small, gold ring with an infinity sign that had sliver of a diamond in the middle of it. It wasn’t big, but it was perfect. “It’s a promise ring,” Ian finished and stared into her eyes as he waited for her to respond.
Allison sat in silence as she stared at him. This was the last thing she ever expected when Ian told her he had something for her. It was perfect. He was perfect. She felt the tears run down her cheek as she knelt down beside him to take his hands. He wiped her tears away with his thumb as Allison kissed his lips.
“You’re so thoughtful. I love you, Ian. This is perfect. You’re perfect. Thank you,” Allison said, as Ian placed the ring on her left ring finger.
“I just wanted you to know that no matter what happens, I promise I’ll never hurt you intentionally, and I’ll always love you.”
“Stop talking and kiss me,” Allison demanded.
When the kiss ended, Allison was full of emotions. She didn’t know much, but she knew from that moment on she’d always love Ian, no matter where their lives took them.
