Guys like Joel
Wentworth weren't supposed to fall in love with girls like me. He could have had his pick of the
girls on campus, but somehow the laws of nature were defied and we fell crazy in love.
For a short
time, I thought it would be for infinity.
On July 10,
2006, immediately after graduation, Joel left for New York. And, despite him wanting me to go
with him, I'd refused, unwilling to disappoint my parents and risk the judgment of my friends. I
hadn’t seen him again. Never even spoke to him.
I've spent the
last eight years working hard to put my career front and center in my life, dodging any personal
complications. I have a strict no-dating policy. I've managed to piece together a reality that
works for me.
Until now. Now, Joel's
coming back to London.
And I need to
get over him before he gets over here.
RATED: 4 STARS
I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review.I am not going to restate what the story is about. I am always fearful of getting into too much details and spoiling it for others. Here is what I loved and didn't like so much with HopefulThis is the first book that I've read from Louise Bay and I must say I'm hooked. I told myself I would read a page or two and get back to it in a weeks time but was I wrong. From the first page, I was instantly drawn into the story. I wanted to know what was happening, I felt the love that Joel and Ava shared and I was an all round cheerleader for this book.Hopeful is written from Ava's point of view with POV's from the past and the present with the book. I must admit, I was initially more interested in the past because I felt that the storyline was much stronger than the present. I really enjoyed the simple touches, secret glances and the evolution of the love story between Joel and Ava. Ava annoyed the heck out of me sometimes. I hated that she wanted to be secretive and her reasons were just BS(sorry she had me worked up). I wanted her to grow up and years later as she is united with Joel after being apart for 8 years she still can't get her self together.
Then there is Joel.......Joel, there is only one word for this man "hot". I enjoyed Joel's character, he was loving, gentle, sexy and I love that he wasn't afraid to tell Ava his true feelings.I must admit at the end of the story I was left wanting more. I wanted to see more of their relationship in the present. As usually, I had to write the author to find out if there was another book coming. The book was summed up beautifully however I wanted more because I was so in love with Joel. Can someone say ”hot”. All of Louise secondary characters were funny, charming and I look forward to any and/or all of their stories in the future.Overall, Louise has a great way of writing, her sex scenes are equator hot temperature and I look forward to more of this author's work.

Ruined by
romantic mini-series of the seventies and eighties, I love all things romantic. There's not enough
of it in real life so I'll settle for books and films.
I love the rain,
the West Wing, London, days when you don't have to wear make-up, being alone, being with
friends, elephants and champagne.
