SYNOPSIS
In just a few months Harp Evans will be officially coming of age and graduating from high school. She will be free from the mother that never wanted her, the house that never felt like home, and the disappointment of the last seventeen years. What she doesn’t know is that her mother has been holding onto a secret that has the potential to derail her dreams and destroy her already faulty sense of self.
A self-proclaimed recluse, Harp spends most of her time practicing the cello, in the hopes of earning a full scholarship that will grant her freedom, but will also send her away from her best friend Connor Williams, who is becoming more than just a friend.
As revelations are made, will Harp still feel the same way about leaving everyone that cares about her behind? Or will she continue to pursue the life she’s been dreaming of, for as long as she can remember?
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
OMG, where do I really start with this novel. I was given this ARC when I just started my blog but life got to me and the blogging world was so busy that I didn't read it right away. I wanted to kick myself when I finished reading Harp's song.
Cassie is a GENIUS. Her writing style and characters will draw you in from the beginning to the end. And what an ending along with an insight into Harp's voice. I can't wait to read Harp's Voice, I can see that this book will also have me at the edge of my seat.
My purpose of this review is not to recount every event because I want you to experience the hurt, sadness and joy that Harp goes through. I will let you know what I love about this book.
Harp is a young girl in her last year of high school. This girl lived in an environment were she felt unwanted for so many years. The only thing that brought some light into her life was knowing that she will be leaving soon for college and her best friend Connor and his family who were a real family to her. The rollercoaster that Harp goes through with her mother, the violence, a secret surrounding her mother's dislike towards her was unreal. The reason her mother disliked her was very surprising and oh boy did a shed a few tears.
The story also involved Connor.
Connor was Harp's best friend and protector. I loved Connor. He was sweet, caring and a person in her life that would do anything for Harp. I loved that his friendship/relationship with Harp was put through so many obstacles but despite everything he was always there.
Harp's song takes you on a journey of a girl trying to be free, friendships and relationships being tested and repaired.
I would definitely recommend this to book to any and everyone especially if you love YA novels.
I rated Harp's song 5***** Wonderful Stars

She has always been an avid reader and lover of music (yes, she was in the high school marching band). While she has a weak spot for all things teeny bopper, especially boy bands, she also loves classical, country, rock and well, pretty much everything.
After living in St. Louis for more than ten years, she and her husband packed up a U-Haul and headed west. They currently live in Orange County, CA with their furry kids Finnegan and Molly.
